- Beetle Re-Build
This Beetle was found in such a dilapidated condition that there was no Body Panel in the car that one could not see light through! Yes, of course we stripped it bare to the last nut & bolt & Re- Built the Body completely after which we Phosphated the entire body after Sand Blasting the same. These days a lot of synthetic material is available from Specialized Stores that can be used to prepare the body that can help in the longevity of the Restoration that some of us do. The Body Restoration is a very Painful Process when one has to rebuild a vehicle’s body (Every Inch) from scratch. This body was one of those that needed to be rebuilt from bottom up and we have used materials to preserve the sheet metals from rusting & corrosions that will make the body last a few generations. Beetles have a very Unique Mono-coque bodies that has been very intelligently integrated on to a flat chassis with a molded tunnel that runs in the centre of the floor from the front to the rear there by holding all the stability programmes of the drive chassis together. On to which a Mono-coque body is bolted on with water proof insulation with strengthening brackets and we had to build this all from scratch. This is no ordinary Beetle! The Engine has been Up-Graded to Twin Carburetors 44mm, Electric Fuel Pump, Electronic ignition System, a Free Flow Sports Exhaust, the engine now has a 1800 CC Cylinder Heads along with Over Sized Cylinders not forgetting to enhance the Oil Pump to a Hi-Volume (26mm) along with a additional Dog-Box Oil Cooler that helps not to give “Pre Heated” air to cylinder 3 and 4 as per the Original Design of the Engine. It also has an Air conditioner with a Condenser tucked in very neatly under the front bumper that one has actually got to bend down to notice. The most astonishing gizmo that has been incorporated into the machine, from safety point, is a Dual Braking 10” Power Brake System. This being Unique because 99.999 % Beetles have never even been thought of having a Power Braking System! Though a Disc Brake system is now available in the aftermarket but Power braking unit suitable for a Beetle is still awaited. Music system so powerful that it can make the car Rock if volume is turned to full. This body shell has been widened by 5 inches in the track & correspondingly all the fenders have also got a makeover to accommodate the wider Hi-Performance Spoke Wheels. Rest is to see & believe!
